It was founded in 1995 by Craig Newmark for the San Francisco Bay Area. Its sole source of revenue is paid job ads in select cities. Today, it serves over five billion page views per month and receives 500,000 new job listings each month. There is nothing commendable about the design and layout of the site; it is the unique marketing strategy that took Craigslist to the top of the pack! Rumors are strife that Craigslist reached annual revenue of $150 million in 2007 and the initial investment lies somewhere in the lower part of the graph!
